A simple seasonal checklist for keeping common home repairs visible before they become larger projects.
Spring: inspect and reset
Walk the exterior after winter and note water staining, loose trim, damaged screens, sticking doors, and areas where caulk or paint has failed. Inside, make a short list of repairs that were deferred during the colder months.
- Check gutters and downspouts for visible blockage or damage.
- Look for peeling exterior paint, failed sealant, and loose hardware.
- Test bathroom and kitchen fixtures for drips or weak seals.
Summer: protect finishes and access
Use the longer days to handle exterior touch-ups, room refreshes, and projects that need good ventilation. Group smaller repairs into one written scope so setup and cleanup are not repeated unnecessarily.
Fall: prepare for weather
Before temperatures drop, prioritize water management, exterior openings, drafty doors, and anything that could allow moisture into the home. Photograph conditions and record approximate dimensions before requesting an estimate.
Winter: plan indoor work
Winter is a useful time to organize indoor repairs, paint planning, fixture updates, and larger remodel decisions. Separate urgent safety or water issues from comfort and appearance improvements so the order is clear.
