The ceiling fan safety check
Ceiling fans are heavier than light fixtures and create vibration during operation. Installing a ceiling fan in a standard light box is a safety hazard — the box can pull out of the ceiling over time.
We always check whether the existing box is fan-rated before mounting a fan. If not, we install a fan-rated brace or support box that is rated for the weight and motion of the fan.
